Foil printing, thermal transfer
- thermal transfer foils ("TT-foil")
It is possible to print labels in small batches with your own thermal transfer printer using suitable TT-foil. Glücksband offers you the right choice at a low price. Please contact us, we would gladly inform you of the required conditions.
Printing labels yourself may not be the best alternative, both in economical but also in a visual respect:
For orders over a certain volume, or if the initial investment of a TT printer with colour and the corresponding foils are too high, printing yourself may be comparatively costly compared to the print job.
thermal transfer foils additionally offer only a limited diversity of colours. Are you content with the print results?
Our › pre-printed labels provide you the desired framework for your flexible text. Perfect appearance, at a good price!
"thermal transfer" indicates the print method. The main component of a thermal transfer printer is the pressure strip, which consists of a pattern of points to be heated. As soon as a point is heated, the colour of the TT foil (unicoloured, mostly black) transfuses onto the additionally required "white band".
A motif (label) is pre-printed onto the "white band". The TT foil and the pre-printed band pass together through the TT printer at the same speed. If special pressure strip points are heated while being contacted, the colour is simply converted from the TT-foil to the "white band".
thermal transfer foil is available in 3 basic qualities, with the optimal combination dependent upon the material to be printed:
Wax foil _
Most favourable quality, used mostly for printing on paper labels.
High opacity, also on rough surfaces. Disadvantage: blurs easily.
Not convenient for the textile sector,as these colours can be
rubbed off easily.
Wax/resin-foil _
Medium price range for paper labels and the like,
less suitable for textile print. With a higher opacity than resin foil,
these colours are more durable than wax foil. Extensive prints
can be problematic, however, and testing the durability
of the colours is essential.
Resin foil _
Best washing properties on textile, however only high
opacity under certain conditions. The basic materials should result
in a very smooth surface. Wash resistances up to 95°C are
possiblewith the right combination of foil and basic material.
